Minooka was founded in 1852, when the railroad came through. The Native American name translates as “maple forest” or “good earth.” A century and a half later, the town is one of the fastest-growing in this part of Illinois — population is up roughly 17% over the last decade, the I-80 / U.S. Route 6 corridors carry more commuter traffic each year, and most people who recognize the town’s name outside this area do so because Nick Offerman grew up here.
There’s one quirk that makes Minooka unusual for insurance purposes: the village sits in three counties simultaneously — Grundy, Kendall, and Will. Properties on adjacent streets can be in different rating territories, different property tax cycles, and different school districts. Address-level verification matters here more than anywhere else in the Hicks footprint.
Hicks Insurance Group is an independent agency working with 14+ top-rated carriers out of our Mokena home office, ~25 minutes northeast of Minooka. We’ve been writing Will / Grundy / Kendall County policies since 1998, and Minooka households make up a steady share of the book.
Because Minooka spans three counties — Grundy, Kendall, and Will — your specific lot determines your rating territory, your property tax cycle, and even some of your school district’s structure. Two homes a block apart can carry meaningfully different premiums. We pull the county-of-record on every Minooka address before quoting.
If your property is within roughly half a mile of the DuPage River — which forms Minooka’s eastern boundary — yes. Standard HO-3 explicitly excludes flood. NFIP coverage is the path. Inexpensive ($400–$700/year) for low-risk Minooka zones; required by mortgage in high-risk zones.
Illinois requires 25/50/20 as a state minimum. We don’t recommend it for any Minooka driver — I-80 commuter exposure, US-6 traffic, and average new-vehicle prices over $48K all push the math past the floor. Recommended Minooka floor: 100/300/100 with matching uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM).
Yes. That’s what “independent agency” means. Captive carriers (State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, etc.) only sell their own products. When their rates rise, you’re stuck. We can move you to a different carrier at every renewal.

If you are new to Hicks Insurance, you probably have some questions. Let's help you get some answers.
If you cause an accident, be prepared to pay your deductible. After you’ve done that, your insurance company should pay the remaining costs, including damages or medical expenses you caused to other parties involved.
Your business insurance needs are as unique as your business itself. While all businesses need certain types of coverage—general liability, business property, and workers’ compensation, for example—your other needs hinge on your type of business. If, for example, you use vehicles in your line of work, you need business auto insurance. Similarly, businesses that manufacture a product should consider product liability insurance. Talk to your agent to determine your exact needs.
